Tradycja tworzenia bibliografii historycznej na Śląsku, obejmującej cały obszar tego regionu, sięga XIX wieku. W XX wieku działania te zintensyfikowały się. Przewodziły im trzy główne narody: polski, niemiecki i czeski. Przebiegały one tym nurtem niemal do końca XX wieku. Jednak dopiero pod koniec tego tysiąclecia połączono wysiłki narodowe i powstała wspólna inicjatywa naukowo-wydawnicza, rejestrująca śląskie piśmiennictwo historyczne. Artykuł, po krótkim wstępie historycznym, przedstawiającym początki i rozwój śląskich bibliografii historycznych, opisuje zasoby Bibliografii, w tym część drukowaną i bazę bibliograficzną. Główną uwagę zwrócono na ocenę efektywności i wartości informacyjnej Bibliografii Dziejów Śląska jako czynników warunkujących dostęp do Bibliografii i jej wykorzystanie w pracy naukowej. W zakresie efektywności informacyjnej zwrócono uwagę na układ bibliografii, indeksy, metody wyszukiwania, opis bibliograficzny i strukturę redakcyjną. Wartość informacyjną oceniono poprzez kryteria formalne i merytoryczne zastosowane w bibliografii. Wnioski wyciągnięte z analizy sprawiają, że bibliografia jest oceniana pozytywnie z obu punktów widzenia. Jednocześnie wskazano pewne niedociągnięcia, które, choć nie obniżają wartości i efektywności informacyjnej, to w pewnym stopniu ją osłabiają. Chodzi tu w szczególności o indeks przedmiotowy, który jest wadliwy z punktu widzenia metodologii bibliograficznej, a kryteria doboru materiału bibliograficznego nie są precyzyjnie określone.

Abstract:

The tradition of creating a historical bibliography in Silesia, covering the entire ter-ritory of this region, dates back to the 19th century. In the twentieth century, the-se activities intensified. They were led by three main nations: Polish, German andCzech. They ran along this track almost until the end of the 20th century. However,it was only at the end of this millennium that national efforts were combined anda joint scientific and publishing initiative was established, registering Silesian historical writings. The article, after a short historical introduction, presenting the be-ginnings and development of Silesian historical bibliographies, describes the reso-urces of the Bibliography, including the printed part and the bibliographic databa-se. The main attention was paid to the assessment of the efficiency and informationvalue of the Bibliography of Silesian History as those factors that determine accessto the Bibliography and its use in scientific work. In terms of information efficiency, attention was paid to the layout of the bibliography; indexes; search methods;bibliographic description and editorial structure. The information value was asses-sed through the formal and content criteria used in the Bibliography. The conclu-sions drawn from the analysis make the Bibliography positively assessed from bothpoints of view. At the same time, some shortcomings were indicated which, altho-ugh they do not lower the value and information efficiency, will weaken it to someextent. We mean, in particular, the subject index, which is flawed from the point ofview of the bibliographic methodology, and the criteria for the selection of biblio-graphic material are not precisely specified.
