Aromatic hydrocarbons under the influence of light and oxygen are easily photochemical reactions to form derivatives, which identification is not exactly recognized.]]></dc:description>
<dc:description xml:lang="en"><![CDATA[The aim of the study was to evaluate degradability of low molecular weight PAHs (3 - and 4 - ring compounds) when exposed to ultraviolet radiation. Photolysis studies conducted using an aqueous solution containing a standard reference mixture of PAHs. Analyzed hydrocarbons such as acenaphthene, fluorene, phenanthrene, anthracene, fluoranthene, pyrene, benzo(a)anthracene and chrysene using a system comprising a high performance liquid chromatography coupled with fluorescence detector.]]></dc:description>
<dc:description xml:lang="en"><![CDATA[The irradiation with ultraviolet rays was carried out in solutions of variable exposure time of 1.5; 3.0 and 5.0 minutes. These tests were carried out at different pH reaction environment. The efficiency of removal of PAH ranged from 23 to 48% of the total content of these compounds. Hydrocarbon 3 - and 4- ring is properly in the range of 0 to 23% and from 59 to 73%. The efficciency of degradation depended on the exposure time and the pH of thesolution.]]></dc:description>
