<dc:description xml:lang="en"><![CDATA[In the paper some metals content in the bottom sediments of Skróda river was discussed. The contamination of the bottom sediments is influenced by the dump material of the "anthropogenic lake district" in the Łęknica region. The analysis of sequential extraction used in this research allowed to define the share of the individual occurrence forms of the metals, and thereby to estimate the presumptive mobility of the components in the environment and the connected risk.]]></dc:description>
<dc:description xml:lang="en"><![CDATA[Samples of the sediments were tested for Fe, Mn, As, Al and Cr content. The metals are present in the sediments but their content is mostly (apart from Al) beneath the geochemical background in the region. Among the elements only an elevated amount of aluminum was noticed. Its high content might be related to the process of chemical weathering of pyrite, taking place in the waste dumps.]]></dc:description>
<dc:description xml:lang="en"><![CDATA[Sulfuric acid arisen during the process induces the decay of aluminosilicates. The other metals could be released in case of changing the geochemical conditions, and expand to the aquatic environment.]]></dc:description>
