In both cases, it was treated as one of the main issues, due to the geopolitical situation, concerns about domestic stability and changing global challenges. The campaign for the 2029 parliamentary elections brought the following issues: External military threats, which, in the context of growing tensions on Poland`s eastern borders, placed a premium on increasing military spending, modernizing military equipment and developing military infrastructure.}, abstract={Internal security and the related need to strengthen law enforcement, including police and intelligence services, in response to terrorist threats and migration crises. Of course, the topic of migration came up, emphasizing the need to protect borders from uncontrolled flows of refugees and migrants to ensure a greater sense of security for citizens. The topic of security was also widely discussed in the context of international cooperation. PiS stressed the need to maintain Poland`s strong presence in NATO, while criticizing the EU`s migration policy, which the government said could lead to security risks.}, abstract={The 2023 campaign and the ongoing war in Ukraine highlighted the importance of state security, as well as being an important campaign point, but with new emphases based on the international and domestic situation. With the war in Ukraine, the topic of military security and defense became even more central. PiS continued the narrative of increasing military spending, assuming further modernization of the army, including the purchase of modern equipment and weapons, such as missile systems, tanks and fighters. Also promised was the development of military infrastructure and further investment in territorial defense. The Russian Federation became the centerpiece of the threat narrative. PiS emphasized the need to maintain a strong NATO military presence in Poland and the region to counter Russian influence. As in previous parliamentary elections, the Law and Justice party pointed to the need to strengthen uniformed services in the face of the growing threat of terrorism, both domestic and international, especially in the context of instability on Poland`s eastern borders.}, abstract={With the threat of cyber attacks in 2023, the topic of cyber-security also became an important element of the campaign. PiS promised investments in defense against hacking attacks and the development of digital infrastructure for national security. In both campaigns, security themes were present on many levels - from national defense issues, to external threats (mainly related to Russia), to internal threats (e.g., terrorism, migration).
