 abstract={In accordance with the purpose set out at the beginning, the publication presents the diversity of ways of referring to Pope John Paul II in the Russian-language media in the last years of his life (1996-2005). Several hundred articles downloaded from the websites of magazines, radio and television broadcasts and other news portals published in Russia and abroad (e.g. "Die Presse", "La Stampa", "The Independent") have served as the material basis for this research. There were two distinct periods of time when materials were collected - the first one in the years immediately after John Paul II`s death (2005-2007), and the second one in 2022-2024. As the result of the foregoing, differences appeared in Internet sources, e.g. regarding the extension or shortening of the title - such changes were marked and commented on.},
 abstract={The work is of a registration nature, containing over 300 single- and multi-word terms of John Paul II, which have been collected in an alphabetical index placed at the end of the publication. The material was subjected to philological analysis with reference to semantics. As a result of this analysis two groups of names were distinguished. The first part presents those terms of John Paul II that are associated with the official papal titulary, also modified (e.g. Papa-slavanin, namestnik Petra or glova katolikov). The second part of the work is also rich, containing metaphorical terms of John Paul II. They were grouped around selected concepts such as man (e.g. humanist), activist (e.g. government worker), Pole and Slav (e.g. polak do mozga kostej). The second group are religious terms, e.g. Christian (e.g. Slavic Christian), Catholic (e.g. liberal Catholic), shepherd (pastyr` zamečatel`nyj), or pilgrim (82-year-old putešestvennik). Lexicon related to old age was recorded separately (e.g. moščnyj starik). The last described group includes names that clearly indicate hostility towards the Pope (e.g. samozvanec).},
 abstract={Most often, the names of John Paul II are neutral, and only the context of their use indicates a negative connotation. The book does not exhaust the subject, the author hopes that it will become an inspiration for further in-depth studies. The publication may be a starting point for research on the linguistic image of John Paul II created in the Russian media or be a basis for broadening the research perspective to include later years, when the media image of the Polish Pope is changing.},
