W poszukiwaniu "nowej" teorii młodzieży. Uwagi wstępne = Towards a new theory of the youth

Abstract_pl: Abstract:The author has undertaken a critical discussion with sociological theories in which the youth plays the key role. In Polish sociology there are currently many empirical studies which analyse various activity areas of young Poles, e.g., education, free time, life orientations, aspirations, life plans, relations with other generations, political activity (or rather lack of it), social activities, engagement in ecological movements, creative potential, critical potential or standard-setting abilities. A list of the topics covered is long. However, there is no deeper theoretical reflection. We are facing a deadlock in this regard. ; The article is an invitation to a discussion on theories of the youth or theories which deal with the role of the youth in a society. The author attempted to answer the following questions: (1) What are the theories of the youth? (2) If and to what extent do existing theories of the youth refer to contemporary reality? (3) Whether a new theory of the youth is needed?What kind of theses should it contain? For a discussion on the theory of the youth the author chose the concepts of five sociologists: K. Mannheim, J. Habermas, S. Eisenstadt, U. Beck and R. Inglehart. She focused on the selected theorems showing above all their explanatory power and prognostic value as well as the possibility to implement them in the new theory of the youth.
