W rozważaniach podjęto próbę ukazania wybranych wątków nauczania Jana Pawła o roli kultury w życiu człowieka i narodów. Zasadniczą bazą źródłową były homilie i przemówienia papieskie wygłoszone w trakcie jego ośmiu pielgrzymek do Polski. ; Z racji długości pontyfikatu i zmieniających się uwarunkowań społeczno-politycznych i religijno-kościelnych zwrócono najpierw uwagę na kontekst pielgrzymek papieża, następnie na niektóre kwestie szczegółowe obecne w jego nauczaniu, stosownie do nakreślonego tematu rozważań.
Abstract:
John Paul II`s speeches given during his pilgrimages to Poland, with special regard to those addressed to representatives of the world of science and culture, are the sources used to elaborate the present topic. The attention is first paid to the importance of the Papal pilgrimages to different countries of the world, with a special focus on the socio-cultural, ecclesiastical, religious and political context of these pilgrimages to his Homeland. ; Next, some specific questions are discussed, such as the importance of Christianity for the culture of Europe and Poland, patriotism and its patterns, and the importance of higher education institutions, especially universities, for culture.
