The category studied in this paper are women over 50. This age categorization of the respondents is closely linked to the processes that locate the respondents between late middle adulthood and late adulthood. The most important factors which should be pointed out is the decline or end of their professional activity. Apart from numerous social roles of mature women (mothers of adult children, grandmothers, wives/partners, daughters - carers) we focus on mature women as mature employees. N2 - The issue is essential in the context of their early withdrawal from the labour market and factors pushing out and keeping mature employees in the labour market. The empirical data analysed in the paper (public statistics, data from labour market institutions, research reports from studies conducted in Poland) are used to present the issues that refer to ageing labour market, discrimination against women in the labour market, as well as possible strategies of utilising mature employees.
