TY - GEN A1 - Kozdrowska, Lidia N2 - This work comprises the study of DOPA-melanin complexes with kanamycin and copper(II) ions. N2 - A typical aminoglicoside antibiotics ? kanamycin was used in this work. Kanamycin is an anti-inflammatory drug. N2 - The indol-5,6-quinone group is the fundamental compound forming melanin. This group was discussed in this work.. N2 - In this work EPR spectra were measured by the use of an X-band (9,3 GHz) electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometer at room temperature and in the range 100-300K. The analysis of Cu(II) EPR spectra allows indicating of square co-ordination of these ions in melanin. N2 - Kanamycin causes the increase of paramagnetic centres in melanin, and copper(II) ions its decrease. N2 - The microwave saturation is characteristic for all recorded EPR lines of DOPA-melanin and the EPR spectra of copper(II) are not saturated with the used microwave power range. N2 - The temperature dependence of intensity of EPR spectra of investigated samples, indicated existence of two components in these spectra. The one of them fulfils the Curie low and the paramagnetic centres have a spin S = ?. The second, corresponds to paramagnetic centres in thermally excited triplet states with S = 1. The scheme of structures of paramagnetic centres with spin S = 1 was made.
