 abstract={The aim of the article was to recreate the linguistic image of animals in "Speculum Saxonum" by Paweł Szczerbic (1581). The analysis uses the assumptions of cognitive theory. It is essential for a legally conditioned community to classify animals according to the criteria of freedom or belonging to humans. From this perspective, human behaviour towards people as animal owners is assessed.},
 abstract={The social level of animals is low (compared to other animals or things, they can be borrowed, sold, pawned). The epithets describing the animal mainly emphasize their utility and economic applications. Man and animal are separated by an impassable ontological boundary. Animals do not have the mind and free will, therefore their actions are not subject to moral evaluation.},
 abstract={Negative imaging of animals is used to stigmatize a particularly grave offense against the socio?moral norms of the murder of a relative. The animalistic lexis is standard, stylistically neutral, almost exclusively noun?based, with a wide range of connectivity.},
