@misc{Siuciak_Mirosława_Miejsce, author={Siuciak, Mirosława}, howpublished={online}, publisher={Zielona Góra: Oficyna Wydawnicza Uniwersytetu Zielonogórskiego}, language={pol}, abstract={The article is concerned with the study of the development of Polish in particular regions. This major aspect of historic-lingustic research refers to mainly the peripheries of the country, which for centuries remained outside the mainstream development of the Polish language. Special attention is given to Upper Silesia, a region which was ethnically and socially diverse and which until late Middle Ages stayed under foreign (Czech and German) cultural influences.}, abstract={Upper Silesia studies have a long tradition of more than a century, yet from the beginning they have been muddled in ideology and involved in conflicts concerning ethnic relations and dominant cultural patterns. For this reason, and because of the lack of research material, Silesia is yet to be offered a comprehensive historic-lingustic study.}, abstract={The author suggests an innovative perspective of looking at the available historical sources which places them not in opposition to the standard Polish language but in juxtaposition with other similar texts written in different regional communities. The focus of such research should, then, be on shared characteristic and not, like in earlier approaches, on differences warranted by the influence of the local dialect and impact of foreign cultures.}, abstract={Nevertheless, accounting for the specificity of the region as a socio-political and cultural category with the use of already existing historical, sociological, cultural, literary, and linguistic research is essential in creating a comprehensive historic-linguistic study of Upper Silesia.}, type={artykuł}, title={Miejsce badań regionalnych w opisie dziejów polszczyzny = Regional Studies and the Study of the Development of the polish Language}, keywords={historia języka, regionalność, badania śląskoznawcze, history of language, regionality, Upper Silesia studies}, }
