@misc{Węgorowska_Katarzyna_Pierścienie., author={Węgorowska, Katarzyna}, howpublished={online}, publisher={Zielona Góra: Oficyna Wydawnicza Uniwersytetu Zielonogórskiego}, language={pol}, abstract={The monograph by Katarzyna Węgorowska, Rings: An Annulolinguistic, Culturological and Didactic Phenomenon (University of Zielona Góra Press, 2025), is a pioneering, interdisciplinary study of the ring as one of the oldest gems in the world. In it, the author launches a new linguistic sub-discipline - annulolinguistics - whose subject and object is the comprehensively interpreted ring, and proposes her own terminology, including the concepts of annulonym and dactylonym (proper names of rings as a type of chrematonym-thesauronym) and dactyliotheca (a verbalised set of rings subjected to linguo-culturological interpretation). The work fills a clear gap in Polish onomastic research, in which the ring - despite its cultural significance - had not previously been the object of a separate chrematonymic analysis.}, abstract={The book has a nested ("box-within-a-box") structure and consists of two complementary parts. The first, annuloculturological part discusses the history of the ring and its various types: legendary and magical rings, unique specimens belonging to famous owners, works by renowned craftsmen, objects from Polish museum holdings and private collections, as well as interdisciplinary classifications, definitions, symbolism, and functions of rings - from insignia of secular and sacred authority, through healing and apotropaic rings, to engagement, wedding, mourning, patriotic, commemorative, and folk rings. The second, annulolinguistic part, drawing on the assembled "linguistic data", analyses chronological and topographic-ethnic designations, names of types, techniques, construction, forms, metals, gemstones and materials, decorative motifs, the verbal valuation of rings, and annulonyms and dactylonyms.}, abstract={This complementary cultural-linguistic approach enables an annulolinguistic reconstruction of the ring and demonstrates that reflection on jewellery heritage cannot be separated from language. The author emphasises the transdisciplinary character of her proposal, combining linguistics with art history, gemmology, and goldsmithing. The work also has didactic value, addressed to students and scholars alike.}, title={Pierścienie.
