Despite the lack of previous academic traditions in Gorzow Wielkopolski, a thriving center for the education of physical education teachers, coaches, instructors, physiotherapists, nutritionists and tourism specialists has developed.}, abstract={Over the course of 50 years, more than 8,500 students graduated from the university. Culture played an important role in academic life. Students participated in numerous events, performances, shows, screenings, and exhibitions organized by municipal institutions (theater, cinemas, culture centers, galleries) and initiated their own cultural projects. Regular regional events included the "Lubuska Wiosna Studencka" [Lubusz Student Spring], which began in 1973, and the "Międzynarodowy Tydzień Studenta" [International Student Week], initiated in 1977.}, abstract={The Gorzowiacy Folk Dance Ensemble, founded in 1978 and consisting mainly of students, enjoyed international recognition. The branch was also home to a dozen or so student sketch comedy groups and music bands.
