@misc{Malinowski_Maciej_Język, author={Malinowski, Maciej}, howpublished={online}, language={pol}, abstract={When it comes to the quality and care of the Polish language, contemporary mass media are, unfortunately, not the stylistic variety on which users could base their own usage. The language used in the media contains a considerable number of various linguistic errors related to the use of words in incorrect meanings, the inflection of common nouns and proper names, verb syntax, spelling, and?above all?punctuation. A large proportion of journalists struggle with knowledge of standard pronunciation and proper word stress; they incorporate colloquialisms and even obscenities into their speech, as well as elements of idiolects (this mainly concerns sports journalists). There are many reasons for this situation. The primary cause should be seen in the low linguistic competence of people employed in press, radio, and television editorial offices, and above all in online news portals, as well as their lack of willingness to supplement their knowledge and improve their professional skills, including those related to correct Polish usage.This unsatisfactory state of affairs has persisted for years, and there is no indication that anything will change for the better in this respect. The study entitled Language in the Media, or Poor-Quality Polish addresses many issues illustrating the low quality of the Polish language in the mass media and points to the causes of this negative phenomenon affecting contemporary media.}, title={Język w mediach, czyli polszczyzna byle jaka = Language in the Media, or Poor-Quality Polish}, type={rozdział w książce}, keywords={mass media, komunikacja społeczna, mediatyzacja, język w mediach, polszczyzna, poprawność językowa, social communication, mediatization, language in the media, Polish language, linguistic correctness}, }
