 abstract={In sewage treatment plants, apart from organic pollution decomposition, it is obligatory, in accordance with law requirements, to provide high efficiency in the field of removal of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds. One of the processes conditioning the removal of nitrogen from sewage is the process of denitrification. The paper shows the major conditions which have to appear so that the denitrification process would happen in a sewage treatment plant. Based on the example of the Sewage treatment plant in Kostrzyń Nad Odrą I have presented the BZT5/Nog dependence which differs from the field posed to denitrification process. There is a probability that there is a different sewage treatment process in the plant.},
